Roofing Contractor in Fort Lee, NJ: Roof Replacement and Repair, Ten Minutes from Our Office
Top Roof LLC is a GAF Certified roofing contractor working in Fort Lee, NJ from our office at 4 W Palisade Ave in Englewood, roughly 10 minutes away. We handle roof replacement and roof repair here and across Bergen County, with a written estimate before any work and a 20-year workmanship warranty on every replacement.
Fort Lee has both steep, cut-up shingle roofs on older single-family homes and low-slope roofs on townhouses and small buildings. The cut-up roofs have more hips and valleys, and every hip and valley is a seam. Seams are where roofs leak, so on a Fort Lee replacement the flashing and the layers under the shingles matter more than the color on top. The Fort Lee roof we finished in September 2026 is a good example, and the full story is on its own page.
RECENT FORT LEE PROJECT
A roof rebuilt from the rafters up in Fort Lee, September 2026
A full tear-off on a large three-story brick house with a complex hip roof. The old plywood came off with the shingles, and the roof went back on a new 5/8 inch plywood deck, GAF ice and water shield, GAF FeltBuster underlayment and GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in Charcoal, with four new VELUX skylights and two GAF attic fans set in at the same time. Read the full Fort Lee project page for the before, during and after photos and what the crew found.
WHAT WE DO IN FORT LEE
Roofing services for Fort Lee homes
Full Roof Replacement in Fort Lee
We tear the old roof off and look at the deck before anything goes back on. Shingles are the part you see. The deck underneath is what everything gets nailed to, and soft or delaminated plywood gets replaced per sheet and shown to you.
- Complete tear-off of the old shingles
- New plywood where the deck needs it
- GAF ice and water shield at eaves, valleys and penetrations
- GAF FeltBuster synthetic underlayment
- GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in the color you choose
When the full GAF system goes on together, the roof is eligible for GAFโs enhanced system warranty coverage. More on roof replacement.
VELUX Skylights and Attic Ventilation
A tear-off is the right time to deal with light and airflow, because the deck is open and the flashing goes in with the roof instead of being cut in later. We replace old skylights, add new ones, or remove them and frame the opening closed, and we set ridge vents or attic fans so the attic can breathe. See skylights for how each option works.
Roof Repair in Fort Lee, NJ
Not every roof needs replacing. If yours still has life in it, we will say so. We look for where the water is actually getting in, fix that, and leave the rest of the roof alone.
- Leaks traced to valleys, flashing, skylight curbs and vent pipe boots
- Flashing and shingle repairs
- Decking that has gone soft under the shingles
- A straight answer on repair versus replacement

QUESTIONS
Fort Lee roofing FAQs
Both, when the deck is coming off. We tear the old shingles off first and then look at the deck underneath. On the Fort Lee job in September 2026 the entire old plywood deck came off with the shingles, down to the bare rafters, and the whole roof was re-decked in new 5/8 inch plywood before any ice-and-water shield or underlayment went down. Shingles are only as good as what they are nailed to, so the deck is not a detail to skip past.
Yes โ the whole job is on our Fort Lee project page, in order. The first is a drone shot of the tear-off, with a tarp hanging down the front of the house to protect the entry and the dumpster on site. The second is taken from the roof with the deck removed, where you can see the bare rafters with the attic insulation and ductwork between them. After that comes the new plywood deck, the GAF FeltBuster underlayment going down over it, and then the finished charcoal roof from the air, front and rear, with the skylights and the two attic fans in it. Other jobs are on our projects page.
Yes, and that is the right time to do it. The deck is open and the underlayment is new, so a skylight is set into new work rather than worked around an existing roof. On the Fort Lee home we installed 4 new VELUX skylights with shades and 2 GAF electric attic fans during the replacement. The skylights carry the VELUX 10-year no-leak warranty. Mention it at the estimate so it is priced with the roof.
Top Roof is a GAF Certified contractor. When we install the full GAF system, meaning the ice-and-water shield, the FeltBuster synthetic underlayment and the Timberline HDZ shingles together as we did in Fort Lee, the roof is eligible for GAFโs enhanced system warranty coverage rather than shingle coverage alone. The VELUX skylights carry the VELUX 10-year no-leak warranty. We are licensed and insured in New Jersey, HIC registration #13VH11535000. Ask us to walk you through what each warranty covers.
We do not quote a roof we have not walked. Size, pitch, how many hips and valleys the roof has, whether the deck has to come off, and any skylights all move the number, so we come out and look first. Right now we are taking $1,000 off a full roof replacement through November 30, 2026, and we offer financing through Wisetack, including 0% for 24 months for qualified homeowners, subject to credit approval. Because of its shape. The roof is a complex hip design with many planes meeting at hips and valleys, plus a lower section over the rear. Every hip and every valley is a seam, and seams are where water gets in. That is why the layers under the shingles mattered here: new plywood, then GAF ice-and-water shield, then GAF FeltBuster synthetic underlayment, and only then the Timberline HDZ shingles.
A dumpster sat in the driveway for the old shingles and the old plywood that came off behind them. Tarps hung down the front of the house to protect the entry, and more tarps covered the landscaping, the backyard deck and the pool area while the roof was open. You can see the tarp and the dumpster in the tear-off photo above, and the whole sequence on the project page.
