ROOFING CONTRACTOR ยท ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ 07632

Roofing Contractor in Englewood Cliffs, NJ

Roof replacement, roof repair, chimney and gutter work for Englewood Cliffs homes and the office buildings along Route 9W, from a GAF Certified crew based just down the hill in Englewood. The roof in this photo is an Englewood Cliffs job we finished in August 2026.

Roofing on the Palisades is not like roofing in the flats

Englewood Cliffs sits on top of the Palisades, directly east of our office on West Palisade Avenue. It is a small borough with big houses: three-story colonials and contemporary homes on the streets between Route 9W and the cliffs, and a strip of corporate and medical office buildings along Sylvan Avenue and Route 9W with acres of flat roof. The one thing every Englewood Cliffs roof has in common is exposure. Wind comes straight up the cliffs off the Hudson with nothing to slow it, and it finds every lifted shingle and loose piece of flashing.

Top Roof LLC is a GAF Certified contractor with a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration, full insurance and 115 five-star Google reviews. We replace and repair shingle roofs, install and repair TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen on commercial buildings, rebuild and re-flash chimneys, and install gutters. Estimates are free, on site, and come back to you as a written, itemized proposal with photos of your actual roof.

RECENT ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS PROJECT

A three-story roof replacement in Englewood Cliffs, August 2026

This three-story home with dormers had a roof past the point of patching: worn shingles on the main slopes and tired flashing around the dormers. The owners wanted a system that would stand up to the wind off the Palisades and a color that suited the gray siding and white trim.

We tore off to the deck, inspected every sheet of plywood, installed new synthetic underlayment with ice-and-water membrane at the eaves, valleys and every penetration, replaced all pipe boots, vent and chimney flashing, and installed GAF Timberline HDZ in Oyster Gray with GAF starter strip and matching ridge caps. Two days on site, including tear-off and cleanup.

Wind-lifted and missing shingles after a storm, leaks at dormers, skylights and chimneys, and the flashing failures that exposure on the cliffs causes years before the shingles wear out.

TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen on the office and medical buildings along Sylvan Avenue and Route 9W, including drains, curbs, scuppers and parapet flashing, with minimal disruption to tenants.

Tall chimneys on three-story homes take the full force of the wind. We rebuild crowns and caps, re-flash, and rebuild from the roofline when the brick has failed.

Seamless aluminum gutters sized for steep, large roofs, with downspouts placed so runoff does not undermine retaining walls and driveways on sloped lots.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS ROOFS, SPECIFICALLY

What we see on Englewood Cliffs roofs

  • Wind. The borough sits on the edge of the Palisades with the Hudson below. Gusts that barely register in Teaneck lift shingle tabs and creased ridge caps here. On every Englewood Cliffs roof we install we use six nails per shingle and GAF starter strip along the rakes as well as the eaves, not just the four-nail minimum.
  • Three-story homes and steep roofs. Many houses are three full stories with dormers and complex rooflines. That means more staging, more safety equipment and more flashing. It also means a repair you can see from the street on the ground floor is often invisible from the roof, so we photograph every slope.
  • Large flat roofs on Route 9W. The office and medical buildings along Sylvan Avenue carry TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen roofs with dozens of HVAC curbs and drains. Most of our commercial work in the Cliffs is drain, curb and seam repair, plus full replacements when a membrane reaches the end of its life.
  • Sloped lots and retaining walls. Where water leaves the roof matters. We plan gutter and downspout locations so runoff goes to the street or a drain, not behind a retaining wall or onto a neighborโ€™s property.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS QUESTIONS

Roofing in Englewood Cliffs: frequently asked questions

Yes. Our office is in Englewood, directly below the Cliffs, and we completed a full GAF Timberline HDZ roof replacement on a three-story Englewood Cliffs home in August 2026. The photos on this page are from that job.

Exposure. The borough sits on top of the Palisades with the Hudson River below, so wind hits roofs here harder than in the towns to the west. Shingles installed with the minimum four nails and no starter strip at the rakes are the ones we see blown off. We install six nails per shingle and GAF starter strip at every edge.

Englewood Cliffs homes tend to be large, tall and complex, so they sit toward the higher end of Bergen County pricing. The price depends on roof area, height and pitch, the number of dormers, skylights and chimneys, decking condition and the shingle you choose. We give a fixed written price after inspecting the roof, and the estimate is free.

Oyster Gray, the color on the August 2026 project above, is one of the most popular Timberline HDZ colors in Englewood Cliffs for exactly that reason. It reads as a soft gray in daylight and works with gray siding, white trim, brick and stone. Charcoal and Pewter Gray are the other colors we install most here.

Yes. We repair and replace TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen roofs on office, medical and retail buildings, including drains, HVAC curbs, scuppers and parapet flashing. We schedule around tenants and building hours.

Usually two working days, including tear-off, decking repairs and cleanup. Larger or more complex roofs may take a third day. We never leave a roof open overnight, and we use additional staging and fall protection on three-story homes.
