This Cresskill single-family home had an aging flat EPDM rubber roof that had worn past the point a repair could fix. Rather than lay new rubber over the same problem, the homeowner chose a full conversion to a pitched, shingled roof built from a new deck up.
We removed the old EPDM completely, down to the roof structure, then framed and decked a new pitched roof with new plywood across the slope. Over that went new underlayment with ice-and-water membrane at the eaves and every penetration, then architectural shingles with matching ridge cap and new vents. It is a bigger job than a like-for-like flat roof replacement. We do both, and full shingle roof replacement, throughout Cresskill and Bergen County.
