24/7 EMERGENCY LEAK RESPONSE
Roof Leaking Right Now? We Answer the Phone 24/7
Call (201) 989-0999 at any hour, any day. A person answers, not a voicemail. The first job is to get the water out of your house: a crew comes out as fast as the weather allows, usually the same day, finds where it is getting in, tarps or patches the spot, and stops the damage spreading into ceilings and walls.
After that it becomes a normal repair. We photograph the roof, show you what failed, and give you a written price to fix it properly. If the roof is at the end of its life we say so, with a separate price for a replacement, and you decide.
While you wait: put a bucket under the drip, and if water is pooling behind a ceiling, a small hole at the lowest point lets it drain into the bucket instead of bringing the ceiling down. Please stay off the roof.
A roof leak in Bergen County does not fix itself
Most of the roofs we repair across Bergen County are between 12 and 25 years old, and most of the leaks come from the same handful of places: chimney and skylight flashing, pipe boots that have split, valleys where two slopes meet, wind-lifted shingles after a norโeaster, and drains and seams on flat roofs. Very few of them need a new roof. They need someone who will get on the roof, find the real source, and repair it with new material instead of a bead of caulk.
Top Roof LLC is based at 4 W Palisade Ave in Englewood, which puts every town in Bergen County within a short drive. We repair shingle, flat and low-slope roofs on homes and commercial buildings, we photograph what we find, and we leave you a written, itemized proposal before any work starts. If the honest answer is that your roof is at the end of its life, we will say so and show you why, and you can read about roof replacement on its own page.
WHAT WE REPAIR
Roof repairs we handle across Bergen County
Roof leak detection and repair
Water rarely shows up inside directly under the hole. We trace the leak from the stain back up the slope, open the area, replace wet decking and underlayment, and close it with new shingles and ice-and-water membrane.
Flashing repair
Chimneys, skylights, sidewalls, dormers, pipe boots and vents. Failed flashing is the number-one leak we find in Bergen County. We install new step, counter and apron flashing, not a smear of tar over the old metal.
Storm and wind damage
Lifted, creased or missing shingles after a storm, tree-limb punctures and ridge-cap blow-offs. We tarp if needed, document the damage with photos for your insurance claim, and make the permanent repair.
Flat and low-slope roof repair
Modified bitumen, EPDM and TPO on homes, garages and commercial buildings. Open seams, ponding, failed drains and scuppers, cracked parapet flashing and blistered membrane, repaired with matching material.
Chimney and skylight leaks
The two penetrations that leak most. We re-flash, replace cracked crowns and caps, and reseal skylight curbs. If the chimney masonry itself is failing, our chimney repair crew handles it. Skylight work has its own page: skylight repair, replacement and removal.
Ice dam and winter damage
Ice dams push water under shingles at the eaves. We repair the damaged section, add the ice-and-water membrane that was missing, and correct the ventilation that let the dam form. Gutters are a separate job: if yours are undersized or pulling off the fascia, we quote new seamless gutters rather than patch the old ones.
HOW WE REPAIR
A repair that lasts, not a patch that buys a season
The photo shows a typical Bergen County repair. The leak was in a valley. Instead of caulking the shingles, our crew opened the valley, cut out the wet plywood, installed new decking, ran ice-and-water membrane up both slopes and wove new architectural shingles back into the existing roof so the repair disappears.
- Find the real source. Water travels. We inspect the attic side when we can and trace the stain to the actual entry point.
- Replace, donโt cover. Wet decking, torn underlayment and rusted flashing come out. New material goes in.
- Match the roof. We match shingle profile and color as closely as the market allows, so a repair on a visible slope does not look like a patch.
- Photograph everything. You get before-and-after photos of the repair, even the parts you cannot see from the ground.
FLAT & COMMERCIAL ROOFS
Flat roof repair for homes and commercial buildings
Hackensack, Teaneck, Fort Lee, Englewood and the Route 4 and Route 17 corridors are full of flat and low-slope roofs: modified bitumen on older buildings, EPDM and TPO on newer ones. They fail in predictable spots: drains, seams, parapet flashing and anything that was patched with roof cement. We torch in new modified bitumen, heat-weld TPO seams, and rebuild drains and scuppers so water leaves the roof instead of sitting on it.
See a recent example: our commercial roof drain repair in Hackensack, or read more about our commercial roofing services.
REPAIR OR REPLACE?
When a repair is the right call, and when it is not
Roofers who only sell replacements will tell you every leak means a new roof. Roofers who only patch will keep coming back. We do both, so we can give you the answer that is actually true for your roof. Here is how we decide:
Repair makes sense when
- The roof is under about 15 to 18 years old
- The problem is in one or two places, not everywhere
- Decking is solid and there is only one layer of shingles
- Damage is from a storm, a tree limb or a failed flashing
- You are selling soon or planning a replacement in a few years
Replacement is the honest answer when
- The roof is past 20 years and shedding granules everywhere
- There are three or more leaks, or the same leak keeps returning
- Shingles are curling, cracking or brittle across whole slopes
- There are already two layers of roofing on the house
- Storm damage covers a large area and insurance is involved
Either way you get the same thing from us: photos of what we found, a written price for the repair, and, if it applies, a separate price for a replacement so you can compare them side by side. No pressure in either direction. Read more about our roof replacement work or see finished jobs on our projects page.

QUESTIONS
Roof repair FAQs
Active leaks are prioritized. In most cases we can inspect within a day or two of your call, and we can tarp a storm-damaged roof the same day to stop water coming in while the permanent repair is scheduled. Call 201-989-0999 for the fastest response.
Yes. Most of the roofs we repair were installed by someone else. We repair asphalt shingle, modified bitumen, EPDM and TPO roofs regardless of who installed them, and we will match the existing shingle as closely as possible.
Not honestly. The age of the roof and a description of the leak give us a guess, but the real answer comes from getting on the roof. That is why the inspection is free and comes with photos, so you can see what we saw before you decide anything.
We document the damage with dated photos, write up the scope of the repair and provide the paperwork your adjuster needs. We do not act as a public adjuster, but our reports are used regularly in Bergen County storm claims.
Yes. We repair modified bitumen, EPDM and TPO roofs on homes, garages, multi-family buildings and commercial properties, including drains, scuppers, seams and parapet flashing. See our Hackensack drain repair project for an example.
We match the shingle profile and color as closely as the current market allows. On a roof that is a few years old the repair is usually invisible from the street. On a roof that has faded for 20 years, a new shingle will be slightly darker at first and blends over the first season.
Every repair comes with a written workmanship warranty, and the terms are on your proposal before you sign. If a repair we made leaks, we come back and fix it.
