Roof Replacement in Maywood, NJ

A worn shingle roof torn off, re-decked with new plywood, and finished with new architectural shingles.

The project

The before photo tells the story on this one: an old shingle roof, faded and streaked, well past the point where another repair made sense. The homeowner wanted it done properly rather than patched again, so we tore the roof off completely and rebuilt it from the deck up.

What we did

  • Complete tear-off of the old shingles down to the deck.
  • New plywood decking installed across the roof, giving the new system a sound, flat surface to sit on.
  • New synthetic underlayment over the full deck, with ice-and-water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys.
  • New GAF architectural shingles with matching ridge cap, plus new flashing and pipe boots at every penetration.
  • Full cleanup, including a magnetic sweep of the driveway and yard.

The result

Compare the first and last photos: the same house, transformed from a tired, streaked roof to a clean gray architectural shingle roof with crisp ridge lines. Re-decking the roof rather than laying new shingles over old boards is what separates a roof that lasts from one that looks good for a couple of years.

As a GAF Certified contractor, Top Roof LLC installs the full GAF system, making this roof eligible for GAF’s enhanced warranty coverage. We replace and repair roofs throughout Maywood and the rest of Bergen County.
